Right now there’s a crisis going on with reaction channels and the big music labels, particularly Universal Music Group, who is now issuing copyright strikes and takedown notices on reaction content, despite reactors’ fair use rights. Reaction channels are being forced to close up shop due to all the lost revenue. Perhaps Watch2Gether could provide a solution which keeps both groups happy. What I’m suggesting would not be simple but you could charge for it, making it worth your time.
We need a way for reactors to control the playback of another video while their video plays. There could be a page for reactors on Watch2Gether in which the reactor opens the content they’re reacting to, they then press “record” which starts the content and all of the actions they take on the content are “recorded” to be “played back” later. After the reactor is done making their video, they would need to tell Watch2Gether the exact time in their video they start watching the content. Then the reactor tells the audience to go to a specific w2g.tv page which shows their video and the content they’re watching synced up. You would probably need to account for ads playing on the videos.
Again, I know this would be a huge undertaking, but you wouldn’t have to do it for free. You could certainly charge for something like this. It would be solving a huge problem that’s affecting a ton of people right now, so the demand for something like this is definitely there.
