Hi W2G Support Team,
I am writing to report a specific issue regarding the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) functionality on Watch2Gether.
Previously, I was able to access the native browser PiP mode by right-clicking twice on the YouTube video player within the W2G room. This action would bring up the browser’s context menu, allowing me to select “Picture-in-Picture.”
Hi & thanks for your bug report. The Picture-in-Picture mode is more a browser feature then something we build and control. Which browser are you using?
Previously, while using Watch2Gether (W2G) with the old YouTube interface, I could easily trigger the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode using two methods:
-
Double-right-clicking on the video player to access the native browser context menu.
-
Using the built-in PiP button provided by the Vivaldi Browser overlay.
However, since YouTube updated to its new UI, these features no longer function correctly within the W2G environment:
-
Vivaldi Sidebar: PiP cannot be activated at all.
-
Standard Tab: The native PiP options are missing or unresponsive. Currently, the only workaround is using a third-party Chrome Extension specifically for PiP.
I am unsure if this conflict originates from the Vivaldi Browser’s video detection or changes within W2G’s integration of the new YouTube player, as everything functioned perfectly prior to the UI update.
