Mobile user has a major issue trying to play videos in rooms

Hello. I have a friend who unfortunately can’t join my W2G rooms on mobile without having to constantly attempt to fight against a frequent pop-up that tells him to verify he isn’t a robot, and before he can do any kind of verification, W2G immediately overwrites it with “How to use W2GSync”. Obviously, my friend can’t get W2GSync on his phone, on account of… Well… He’s on a phone. Plugins unfortunately are not supported on mobile as far as either of us are aware.

Nobody else in our group uses Mobile for W2G- my one friend is the only one- so if there’s anyone else who also has this issue and may have some solutions- temporary or otherwise- I would love to hear them, or otherwise, I would like to know if my friend isn’t exclusively the only one having this issue.

Thank you for your bug report. Am I correct in understanding that this popup appears in the video player? Is the video you are trying to play from YouTube? This is certainly not a popup implemented by Watch2Gether and I haven’t seen it myself. So I assume it’s some kind of anti-bot measure by YouTube. Does it help to try a different browser? Is your friend using some kind of VPN and or anti tracking software on the device?

Hello again Florian! Yes, this pop-up appears in the video player, and specifically when we play youtube videos since that’s where most of our media comes from. Our friend has an Apple phone so we aren’t sure he can access from a different browser, unfortunately, and as far as we know they don’t use a VPN or Anti-Tracking software.

Interesting, I have never seen this myself. Do I understand correctly that this happens just sometimes, so some videos work and some don’t? When did this issue appear for the first time?

It happened roughly about a few weeks ago- and has targeted my friend specifically. It does only happen sometimes, but whenever it does, my friend has to constantly leave and rejoin trying to solve the issue.

I see. I made one change to the player that could have an impact but that was more recent at the beginning of last week. I’ll try to run some tests tomorrow and see if i can figure something out. Where is the user who sees the issue located?
